Facts
- Nine landscape areas form the Green C
- Left bank of the Rhine: Mainly agricultural use
- Right bank of the Rhine: Mainly meadow and floodplain landscapes
The Green C preserves the individuality of the nine different landscape areas and creates a park of cultural landscapes by connecting them.
The Green C can be divided into nine very different and special landscape areas:
The four landscape areas on the left bank of the Rhine have been shaped by agriculture for centuries due to their valuable arable soils:
- the Meßdorf field,
- the garden land,
- the foothills and
- the gravel landscape.
The four areas on the right bank of the Rhine are much more characterized by meadow and floodplain landscapes:
- the Siegaue,
- the Hangelarer Heide,
- the Birlinghover Forest and
- the Pleisbach valley.
The ninth area - located in the center - is the Rhine with its immediately adjacent floodplain areas.
