Facts

  • 2.3 hectares total area
  • Mosaic of flowers and fields
  • Vegetable gardens for rent
  • Leisure activities for all generations
  • Nature conservation

The Rosenfeld green corridor was planned as a species-rich and environmentally friendly green corridor under the guiding theme of "urban agriculture" and opened in 2014. Since then, the green corridor has been an asset to the district of Bonn Buschdorf and the surrounding landscape: the area is particularly attractive thanks to the colorful flowers in the fields and the wide range of exercise options.

Local farmers have been planting extensive flowering and colorful fields since 2013, which are an important source of food for insects in particular. A meadow orchard contributes to the preservation of regional fruit varieties. All generations can be active together on the playground designed around the theme of agriculture and the multifunctional small playing field, which is also adjacent to a gymnastics meadow and an outdoor fitness area. It is also possible to rent vegetable gardens for a season in the green corridor. Anyone interested in renting a vegetable garden can find out more at  www.meine-ernte.de (opens in a new tab) or by calling "meine ernte" on 0228 / 2861 7119.

The 2.3-hectare site in the north of Bonn was created before the adjacent Rosenfeld development area was built and thus already clearly marks the edge of the settlement area. This is particularly important in view of the growing population and increasing pressure on the remaining open spaces.

The green corridor and the surrounding landscape is a habitat for the green toad. The planning and implementation of the green corridor and the Rosenfeld development area have therefore been adapted to the occurrence of this particularly protected species. There is a so-called amphibian guidance system in the green corridor, which helps the green toad to migrate safely to the adjacent spawning waters. The mosaic of flowering and colored fields, the meadow orchard and the vegetable gardens also help to preserve habitats for the green toad.

The basic idea of the Green C, to harmonize agriculture, local recreation and nature conservation, is particularly evident in the Rosenfeld green corridor.
