The "Green Center" is a sub-project in the Green C in Sankt Augustin, in which an attractive design of the edges of the town contributes to their long-term strengthening and to securing open spaces. To this end, public green spaces were developed on an area of around 2.5 hectares, which feature high-quality greenery. The continuous green strip runs parallel to Siegburger Strasse and was laid out at a width of 20 - 25 meters. It includes footpaths and cycle paths, squares and small multifunctional areas, the features of which increase the quality and length of stay. In large areas, an agricultural road runs parallel to the footpath and cycle path.
A wide, attractively designed green strip,
that surrounds the entire green center in the long term
ensures the preservation of open spaces and increases the
quality of stay.
The green corridor was designed with landscape-structuring rows and groups of deciduous trees along the path, stepped shrub structures and flowering and herb-rich meadows. In particular, the native shrub plantings at different heights enrich the new edge of the village. The arrangement in strips and blocks, the flowering times, leaf colors and bark colors create a varied overall picture.
The staggered placement of the planting blocks also provides views of the open landscape - the "green center", enables social control and also creates good conditions for wildlife.
